Every detail of the new Rover 800 Series demonstrates quality of the very highest level. To achieve this Rover have used the most advanced technology in the industry. Normally the final representation of the finished vehicle prior to the development of pre-production models is a glass fibre styling model. For the new Rover 800 Series, a full size graphite model was also created. With the advantages of strength, lightness and stability, the use of graphite gives unprecedented precision in the accuracy of the final panel fit and surface form.
State of the art techniques were also used for tool manufacture. A special five-axis machining process allows tools to be produced directly from the master database containing the hundreds of thousands of dimensional measurements which make up the car body – greatly increasing the accuracy of the tools and hence the finished product.
Quality that is designed in is also built in. The extensive use of zinc-coated steels is combined with an exhaustive series of corrosion protection treatments. Beneath the deep paint finish is a rugged durability that will stand the test of time; making the new Rover 800 Series a car that you will still be proud to own in the years to come.
